See for yourself why thousands of schools have chosen Edline’s website and portal solution to meet their online communication needs.
Edline offers web hosting, content management, information portals, and tools for classroom management, gradebook, notification, analytics, virtual storage and related technologies.
New technologies are making it possible for schools to increase parental involvement, raise student achievement, and transform their learning community.
“ The best part is that I don't have to remember to go looking for grades, when new grades are available, an email says so. All I have to do is log on and type in my screen name and password. Then I am either pleasantly surprised or rather annoyed.”

School can post more information on new Web site
For Bethel school district, the days of students and parents anxiously waiting to see their report cards is over.
Thanks to a new Web-based program called Edline, Bethel has entered the Web information age, leaving uncertainty over a student’s status in the proverbial dark ages.
According to Bethel technology coordinator, Gary Shellhammer, the program allows parents, students and teachers the ability to access and post information related to the progress and education of Bethel students.
“The primary reason we started this was to allow both students and parents a way to check up on how the student is doing. They can log on with their access code and see how the student is doing in each of their classes,” Shellhammer said. “And it also gives a way for teachers to communicate with the families by posting not only their grades on individual assignments and tests, but also by posting announcements, assignments, study guides and other things related to the class.”
While students are only able to check their own Web page, which has links to all their classes, parents of more than one Bethel student have access to all their children’s status reports.
And according to Shellhammer, the program also has the capability for coaches and advisers of sport teams and clubs to post items such as roster lists, schedules and announcements, which are also links on each student’s web page.
“When a student logs on, not only are they linked to all seven of their classes, but they also are linked to all their extra-curricular activities. And there are even ways to post general school information, such as news, daily announcements, lunch menus and athletic scores and events,” Shellhammer said.
Implemented at the beginning of the school year, so far 292 students at the high school and 164 junior high students are utilizing the Edline program. And 158 parents have already gone online to view their student’s Web pages.
The cost of the program, estimated by Shellhammer to be a yearly fee of anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500, depending on the enrollment numbers at Bethel each year, is well worth what the district is gaining, Shellhammer said.
“The program is working great so far. Actually, 100 percent of the comments we have received from parents have been favorable. Personally, I think this is one of the best things to happen to Bethel schools in a long time,” Shellhammer said. “To have kids get on the computer and have an interest in how they are doing is exactly what we want them to do.
And then to have a way for parents to become engaged and kept up-to-date on how their child is doing and have a way for teachers to communicate to both of them is exactly what we want. This is definitely a win-win-win situation. And other than the cost, there is no downside to this program.”
Although not yet implemented at the elementary level, Shellhammer is hoping to soon expand the program.
